TuffRail is an industrial handrail system offered by Moddex. It is designed to provide AS1657 compliant protection for workers across mezzanines, stairs, loading bays, and other industrial applications.

Moddex Tuffrail industrial handrail systems ensure workers, pedestrians, employees and site visitors are protected.

This range boasts three material options – being suited for general warehouse use, through to use in extremely high corrosion areas.

The innovative Tuffgard® Toeboard is incorporated into this range for applications with open access beneath where an object could fall (Refer AS/NZS 1657).

Range of Products

With five configurations available in the Tuffrail family (with variations), Moddex industrial handrails offer:

Single rail edge protection for “on ground” applications Top and mid rail designs incorporating Tuffgard® Toeboard Hot Dip Galvanized Steel, Aluminium – Mill Finish and 316 Grade Stainless Steel options Y14 Safety Yellow powder coat (Dulux Duralloy) finish product in stock Custom powder coating options (available on request)

TuffRail Systems

  • TR10 - Single Toprail
  • TR20 - Top and Midrail
  • TR25 - Top and Midrail with Kickplate
  • TR30 - Top, Mid, and Bottom Rails
  • TR35 - Top, Mid, and Bottom Rails with Kickplate

TR Gate

Compliance

Moddex TR handrails are designed and manufactured in accordance with Australian Standard AS1657:2018 and relevant statutory WHS Codes of Practice/ Guidelines. Galvanized to AS 4792 and AS/NZS 4680:2006 (where applicable)

Common compliances

  • Moddex standard TR height is 1045mm however it can be designed between 900mm-1100mm in accordance with AS1657 (Preferred 1045mm)
  • Gaps between railing must be minimum 50mm
  • When creating TR as a barrier for headwalls, they don't need to be connected

Design Notes

  • Double Span top rail when possible

Design tips

  • The distance from edge of closure to centre of stanchion is 324.15mm
  • To create a 50mm gap, insert TR 374.15mm away from wall/structure
  • When designing on stair sections, always set the correct heights with the tracing menu before connecting TR
  • Double check the TR pipe can go through the fittings (Double bends going through a top fitting may not work)
